Summer reading for Tories

David Cameron has sent out a 38-book summer reading list to Tory Members of Parliament. Nudge made the list as “required reading.” Both Thaler and Sunstein feel honored.

Other selections from the list include:

A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide by Samantha Power (which we believe makes Sunstein and Power the only husband and wife team on the list).

Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert Cialdini

Political Hypocrisy: The Mask of Power from Hobbes to Orwell and Beyond by David Runciman

Mr Lincoln’s T-Mails: The Untold Story of How Abraham Lincoln Used the Telegraph to Win the Civil War by Tom Wheeler

Good Manners and Bad Behaviour: The Unofficial Rules of Diplomacy by Candida Slater

In a memo (Cameron) reassured MPs that they will not be punished if they fail to complete them all: “The thrusting frontbencher who e-mailed me last time bewailing the fact that he wouldn’t have time to read them all should relax — the whips don’t keep a tally of books read.”
